UWM's Kenilworth Building - In the heart of the Milwaukee's East Side The State of Wisconsin and the University of WI-Milwaukee have announced a new request for proposal process to redevelop the Kenilworth Building. The intent of the RFP process is to select a developer who will work on this project in partnership with the UWM, UW System, and the State to meet UWM's educational needs while considering the needs and concerns of the bordering neighborhoods and the City of Milwaukee. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is in full possession, of the fee simple interest, of a five-story, 500,000 square foot former warehouse/manufacturing property (the Kenilworth Building) located on Milwaukee's East Side between downtown and the campus of UWM, 1925 E. Kenilworth Place. The building, originally a Ford assembly plant, was first built in 1914 and added onto in 1943. The property is adjacent to the East Side Business Improvement District #20 in the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is located four blocks from Lake Michigan in a high-density residential neighborhood. The State of Wisconsin Department of Administration on behalf of UWM and the State of Wisconsin Building Commission seeks to engage a development team for the purpose of redeveloping the 500,000 square foot Kenilworth Building.
