Featuring local grown produce and handmade crafts, the East Side Open Market will be returning to the Beans and Barley parking lot on Thursday nights from 3pm to 7pm. Located on North Avenue, the market will fun from June 12th through October 9th.
The East Side Open Market will continue to bring Wisconsin certified organic products and local, handmade arts and crafts to Milwaukee residents. Produce from local farmers at the market will feature seasonal vegetables, cheeses, honey products, organic meats and fresh cut flowers. Artisans will be showcasing different works from paintings, photography, tote bags, and jewelry. Each week the market will offer patrons over 25 different vendors to visit.
Each Thursday night will feature a different theme centered around a specific topic. One recurring night will be “Neighborhood Picnic” which will feature sidewalk sales from East Side retailers and strolling musicians. This theme will be featured once a month on July 17th, August 21st and September 25th. The picinic is a perfect way for current residents and newcomers to witness the great vibe of the East Side and all that it has to offer.
Several musicians have already been booked for the market. Local blues singer and songwriter John Stano will be playing on June 12th and local musician Jayk will playing June 19th in preview performance for the Summer Soulstic Music Festival. Each week will feature a different type of entertainment or activity ranging from chalk drawing to yoga lessons.
