5TH ANNUAL TOMATO ROMP - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
Milwaukee's messiest tradition, Tomato Romp, returns for a fifth go-round, Saturday, September 17, 2011. The event includes two of the East Side's most anticipated actvities: The Best Bloody Mary Competition and the notorious Rotten Tomato Fight.
Beginning with fresh veggies, live music and, of course, tomatoes straight from the vine, Tomato Romp welcomes guests to visit the East Side Green Market at 10 AM. Then at 11 AM the competition begins as East Siders become cocktail connoisseurs at the Best Bloody Mary Competition. $10 buys 11 tasty samples from the area's best bars and restaurants. Ballots are due at 3 PM sharp, where they will be counted and tallied to crown 2011's Judges' Pick and Fan Favorite. Immediately after the winners are announced, the crowd will descend upon a cage full of 100 crates of rotten tomatoes. Tomato fighters will be required to make a small contribution to aide in the effort to fight hunger in Milwaukee. Post-fight our warriors are welcome to hose down in the drive-thru at Educators Credit Union.
