EAST SIDE'S ROTTEN TOMATO FIGHT RETURNS!
Milwaukee – The East Side Business Improvement District is excited to announce that the Second Annual Tomato Romp! will take place on Saturday, September 20th between 11AM and 5PM on North Avenue between Prospect and Oakland Avenues. The event will feature the Second Annual North Avenue Bloody Mary Competition, a special East Side Open Market with great live performances and the highly anticipated Rotten Tomato Fight. The day kicks off at 11 AM with an encore presentation of the East Side Open Market in the Beans & Barley parking lot. In addition to the finest Wisconsin produce and hand made arts and crafts, the retailers of the district will hold booths at the market as well. One Drum will entertain the crowd with their original world music at 1 PM. The second annual North Avenue Bloody Mary Competition, sponsored by Pinnacle Vodka, will take place among the district’s favorite bars and restaurants from 11 AM to 4 PM. Those of legal drinking age can purchase an official Tomato Romp! Bloody Mary punch card at The East Side Open Market for $10 and receive a free 5oz. sample from each of the eleven participating establishments and a beer chaser provided by Lake Front Brewery. Judging will take place at 4 PM. with the crowning of North Avenue’s Bloody Mary Champion and the fan favorite. Throughout the day the sidewalks will be filled with various buskers and tomato themed theater groups who will be entertaining crowds with a variety of tomatoey fun! The day will cap off with a rotten tomato fight sponsored by Maglio & Company at 4 PM. Those wishing to participate, and are aged sixteen and above, can fill out a waiver in the East Side Open Market between 11 AM and 3 PM. Wristbands will be given to the first two hundred people with signed waivers. One fight will take place at 4 PM in the parking lot between Beans and Barley and Von Trier’s on North Avenue.
