The East Side Open Market brings together a diverse mix of residents, growers, craftspeople, and artists from across the state and City. The East Side Open Market is an initiative for neighborhood revitalization created by the East Side Business Improvement District #20, a group of 70 commercial property owners on or near E. North Ave. Created in 1997, B.I.D. #20 runs along E. North Ave. between the Milwaukee River, N. Prospect Ave., the Oak Leaf Trail on the south, and E. Greenwich on the north.

The E. North Ave. commercial district hosted a North Ave. Greenmarket from 1918 to the mid-1970 s. The location was where Beans and Barley's parking lot now sits and was one of 6 markets city-wide during that time. Throw in our unique musical talent from the neighborhood, the East Side creative arts community, and 40,000 people residing within a square mile of the market, and have more than enough ingredients for a successful urban market. See you at the Open Market!
