Hacienda Beer Co. from Door County will open a taproom with food service in the former G-Daddy’s BBC Bar and Grill and Hotel Foster building on Milwaukee’s East North Avenue.

Hacienda is a craft brewery created about a year ago by the owners of Door County Brewing Co. LLC to make a separate line of more experimental beers such as hoppy ales and stouts. Hacienda’s Milwaukee taproom will open on Memorial Day weekend 2019 with 125 seats, according to a Friday announcement. Its beers are made in a 15-barrel brew house in Baileys Harbor.

Door County Brewing Co. CEO John McMahon said they were drawn to the Milwaukee location at 2018 E. North Ave. and proximity to other nearby businesses such as Hooligans, Von Trier, the Oriental Theatre and the new Crossroads Collective food hall.

“We’ve been eager to develop a space outside of Door County that is a reflection of the Hacienda brand, which is for people who are looking for innovation, creativity, freshness, authenticity and grit,” McMahon said.

Hacienda is the first major tenant announced for the former BBC building since it sold to Milwaukee developer Josh Jeffersin early spring. That building’s

sidewalk level retail space has been vacant for more than a year.

Bruce Westling of MLG Commercial in Milwaukee represented J. Jeffers and Co. in the lease agreement. The building has been gutted and will get a new storefront for the Hacienda taproom, Westling said.

Hacienda beers include the Everything Eventually pale ale, The Only Time is Party Time stout with cold-brewed coffee and coconut, and the Vertigogo stout with espresso and cinnamon.

Milwaukee firm 360 Degrees will design and build out the Hacienda space on North Avenue. The firm designs interior spaces and custom produces wood and metal tables and fixtures in its Milwaukee shop. It has designed spaces including the Fauntleroy’s restaurant that opened this year in the 3rd Ward, DanDan and Cafe Hollander.

Kevin Barry of the Barry Co. represented Hacienda in the lease agreement.
