The East Side BID and Black Cat Alley are excited to announce a new addition to the alley's murals, "Head in the Clouds" painted by local artist Ruben Alcantar in September 2023.

The BID issued a call for artists over the summer and a panel of seven jurists chosen Ruben Alcantar out of an applicant pool of over 100 artists to paint the new mural.

Ruben Alcantar is a Milwaukee artist who has created murals around the city to inspire art and change. His work includes the 30-by-15 foot “Respect” mural, which features Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brothers, located on Kinnickinnic Ave., as well as several other Black Lives Matter murals around Milwaukee. In addition to creating murals, Ruben is also a tattoo artist at Black Rabbit Tattoo Collective.
