Sip & Purr, Milwaukee's first cat café, is celebrating its first year in business and is having a party.

Katy McHugh, owner and founder of Sip & Purr opened at 2021 E. Ivanhoe Place on Milwaukee's East Side.

On June 1, Sip and Purr will be celebrating their first year in business with cat-themed raffle prizes, beverage specials and cat cuddles.

"Together we've saved over 250 lives! Reserve your spot in the Cat Lounge and celebrate ... with us and our adoptable cats," McHugh said in a statement to Patch.

Cat cafés are a growing trend across the U.S., are a unique way for customers to enjoy a cup of coffee or snack while decompressing with a furry friend.

Potential adopters can interact with our cats in a relaxing environment and visualize how that cat will fit in at their home. The Cat Lounge at Sip & Purr is also a neighborhood cat adoption center conveniently located on the East Side, close to Downtown and the North Shore areas.
