Sometimes there’s nothing better than the feeling of your feet pounding against the pavement, your legs pumping, your chest heaving with each breath as you run through the streets. I can’t imagine when that would actually be, but I have to imagine for someone somewhere that is sometimes the case.

In between the music were artisans and food vendors lining the streets, including Too Much Metal, Chillwaukee, MilwaukeeHome, Nine Below, Pedro’s South American Food, Wiskullsin, Donut Squad and many more. In addition, Division BMX showed us two-wheeled stunts and Adventure Rock gave festival goers a chance to try out their rock-climbing skills.

Remember a few years ago, when the East Side was lousy with empty bars, empty buildings, and gone-out-of-business businesses? Yeah, it’s not really like that anymore. If you needed proof, this past Saturday’s Summer Soulstice Music Festival should have done the trick.

East Side axe-slinging bar AXE MKE will ring in its first birthday this weekend – and it'll celebrate the only way it knows how: by throwing blades at stuff. Found at 1924 E. Kenilworth Pl., AXE MKE's birthday "axe-travaganza" will host a variety of events and a new variety of things to throw your axes at – most notably on Thursday, June 13, when the festivities begin with a Cake Smash Party from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

The spring Gallery Night & Day is Friday night and Saturday, with dozens of galleries, museums and other art purveyors showing work by the widest array of artists, some of whom will be there to chat about them with you.

The Summer Soulstice Music Festival – celebrating its 19th year – today announced its lineup of local music hitting its three East Side stages during the upcoming 2019 edition, hosted on East North Avenue and Murray Avenue from noon until midnight on Saturday, June 22.

Six businesses on Milwaukee’s east side are scheduled to participate in a fitness crawl April 27. The East Side Business Improvement District organized the event, which is modeled after a bar crawl.

It's like a bar crawl, but with exercise. No, 12-ounce curls don't count. Milwaukee's East Side Business Improvement District is hosting a fitness crawl. Participants pay $40 and then will walk or run from stop to stop, trying a new exercise at each location.

Milwaukee has become a magnet for bars that feature more interactivity. Whether for a bachelor party or other group celebration, it's more engaging with some recreation. Billiards, darts and bar dice have given way to bowling, arcade games and axe throwing.

Splash Studio moved from the Third Ward to 1815 E. Kenilworth Place on the east side of Milwaukee. On Sunday, they held a grand reopening event.

Other must-see venues, according to the Tribune, include Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, the historic Pfister and the East Side’s new Crossroads Collective that features barbecue, crepes, tacos and scoops of homegrown Scratch Ice Cream.

What started as an experiment one weekend is now a regular event at Murray Hill Pottery Works: One Night Stands. You can experiment, flirt and play with clay without forming a relationship or committing to a second date.
