Sometimes there’s nothing better than the feeling of your feet pounding against the pavement, your legs pumping, your chest heaving with each breath as you run through the streets. I can’t imagine when that would actually be, but I have to imagine for someone somewhere that is sometimes the case.

Six businesses on Milwaukee’s east side are scheduled to participate in a fitness crawl April 27. The East Side Business Improvement District organized the event, which is modeled after a bar crawl.

It's like a bar crawl, but with exercise. No, 12-ounce curls don't count. Milwaukee's East Side Business Improvement District is hosting a fitness crawl. Participants pay $40 and then will walk or run from stop to stop, trying a new exercise at each location.

A fitness crawl is a new concept to Wisconsin, but there are several that take place throughout the U.S., mainly on the coasts. It’s like a bar crawl, but instead of hopping bar to bar for drinks, participants will run and walk from fitness facility to fitness facility and try a new exercise at each.

Milwaukee has become a magnet for bars that feature more interactivity. Whether for a bachelor party or other group celebration, it's more engaging with some recreation. Billiards, darts and bar dice have given way to bowling, arcade games and axe throwing.

The shop will be located at 1812 E. North Ave., adjacent to The Waxwing, where it has hosted pop-up shops in recent months. It has also sold merchandise at area craft fairs.

Other must-see venues, according to the Tribune, include Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, the historic Pfister and the East Side’s new Crossroads Collective that features barbecue, crepes, tacos and scoops of homegrown Scratch Ice Cream.
