The six-story art deco Clock Tower Building on Prospect and North Avenues is a recognizable fixture on the East Side, much like the Oriental Theater built one year prior, but what is not visible to the average person is the variety of small businesses inside that call the building home.
Located at 2266 N. Prospect Ave, it is one of the most affordable places to launch a business in Milwaukee. This is where Love Handle chose to open its now much-lauded café, and it’s been the home to Rockstar Design and Info* Milwaukee for 14 years. Among the 60 or more businesses inside you’ll find everything from web designers, music production companies, real estate and mortgage businesses, consulting firms, lawyers, artists, computer software businesses and various consulting firms. Wind your way through the halls and you will see that the office suites have been combined creatively as businesses grow, but is also home to businesses where only a small desk and phone is needed. A recent glance at available space showed options for as low as $300 a month including utilities and furniture, and a variety of office suites including large spaces with kitchenette. The Clocktower was built in 1926 but still offers the amenities of a modern office with fiber optic T1 lines, an in-house internet provider, freight elevator, loading dock and more. Current tenants say it’s a perfect location, near everything and five minutes away from downtown. Covered parking is included which is a deal compared to pricier office buildings in and near downtown.
At a time when there is question about where the creative community can go for affordable workspace the Clock Tower beckons.
