Let's Welcome these New Businesses to the East Side

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to several new businesses that have opened their doors in the last few months. I'm also excited to announce a couple of other businesses that I know will be coming to the East Side.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the East Side to several new businesses that have opened their doors in the last few months:

Dani The Dog Groomer, located in the Clock Tower Building, 2266 N Prospect Avenue. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Dani and am so happy that she’s here.

Kalina & Co. Jewelry, located at 812 E North Avenue, next door to Fresh Fin. I’ve spoken to the founder and owner Kalina Eichstaedt but still looking forward to meeting her in person. She has signed up to be a vendor at our upcoming Summer Soulstice Music Festival on June 15th. You can check out her jewelry on Murray Avenue.

L’INCONTRO, located at 2315 N Murray Avenue, in-between Izzy Hops and Kawa Ramen & Sushi. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the two owners Paul Piotrowski and Juneil Cabreza. They have done a beautiful job remodeling the existing space. I had a meal there recently and it was delicious.

Crossroads Collective Food Hall at 2238 N. Farwell Avenue has welcomed several new food vendors recently: Noodle Me, Temple Goddess & Adonis Burger Co., Ready to Roll, and Mex Ave. Also, Kawa Ramen & Sushi has been serving up their food at the Food Hall since experiencing a fire in their building last year. I’m happy to report that they expect to be back in their building on Murray Ave sometime later in June.

Backstreet BBQ & Hot Pot, located at 2116 N Farwell. They are just a block away from my office. I’ve stopped in and spoke with the general manager. The place looks amazing and the food smells delicious. I haven’t yet eaten there but I plan to before too long.

I’m also excited to announce a couple of other businesses that I know will be coming to the East Side.

Taichi Bubble Tea, located at 2028 E North Avenue next to Hacienda, plans to open later this year. And it was recently announced that a Panera Bread location is planned at the corner of North and Oakland Avenues, 1800 E. North Ave. The space is on the ground level of the Edge on North apartment building, owned by Joseph Property Development. The building’s retail space is also occupied by Insomnia Cookies, poke restaurant FreshFin and Kalina & Co. Jewelry.

Ivanhoe Plaza is Turning One Year Old

It is hard to believe but the Ivanhoe Plaza is just about to complete its first year in existence. The Plaza was established on May 25, 2023. The creation of this pedestrian zone in the neighborhood provides a safe gathering space for families and a venue for activities and events.

I can’t wait to unveil our new East Side BID website

The website we are currently using was created by Rockstar over ten years ago. When it was created, it was a leading-edge site, but as we all know, technology gets old pretty fast. It was clearly time for an upgrade. I’m so fortunate to work with Rockstar. The websites that they create are amazing!
