The East Side Business Improvement District (BID) announced Thursday, June 10, they are teaming up with Milwaukee Makers Market for the markets hosted from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth weekends of the month, June through September in the East Side Art Lot -- located at 1915 East North Avenue.

According to a news release, this year's season expands on last year's shortened event due to the uncertainty of the pandemic. Last year’s Markets ran only through September, as the Art Lot did not open until mid-August. They drew hundreds of people to the East Side each weekend and proved extremely popular, earning a spot as a semi-finalist, among Milwaukee Makers Market and eventual winner Ryan Laessig, of the Shepherd Express’s Best Of in the Art Market category.

This year, not only will the Art Markets feature more vendors than what social distancing requirements had limited organizers to in 2020, but live music will also return, and beer and seltzer will be available for purchase at the Markets as well.

“We really want this to be a full experience for people joining us. Come for the Market and local makers, and stay around the area for fantastic brunch and fun, unique entertainment. You can easily make a full day of fun experiences,” says Liz Brodek, executive director of the East Side BID. Laessig agrees, “Come to the East Side Art Market to support local, listen to live tunes, and enjoy some East Side vibes!”
