The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panther Arena concessionaire who sells bubble waffles is opening a new Chinese restaurant on Milwaukee’s east side.
Albert Yee, who has decades of experience in foodservice, is opening a restaurant called Mil-Wok-Ee at 2342 N. Farwell Ave. The space previously housed A.A. Wok Zone Chinese Restaurant.
Yee said Mil-Wok-Ee will serve Chinese street food, along with other staples from the cuisine. Customers can expect menu options including crab rangoon, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and noodle dishes at an affordable price point. Yee said he will concentrate his menu on the most popular dishes.
Because the property was already built for a restaurant, he said converting it to Mil-Wok-Ee will mainly be a rebranding project. Yee said he selected the location because of the area's dense population.
To start, Yee said the restaurant will focus on curbside and delivery and will offer hours only in the evening. The schedule will allow him to continue his work with Upstart Kitchen on Fond du Lac Avenue, where he leads a program that prepares thousands of meals each month for community members in need.
Mil-Wok-Ee is expected to open in December.
In addition to restaurants, his experience includes serving concessions at a variety of festivals, fairs and arenas, including at the Super Bowl held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
